Tavern at the Crossroads

What is Tavern at the Crossroads, really?

Tavern at the Crossroads is a party in my backyard with rustic, medieval insprired food, and good beer in a fun setting. It's a place to socialize and enjoy the company of others. If you like those things, you should come by!

Where are you located?

All events are held in Hayward, CA. The address and directions will be provided to guests who are invited to the event after completing the application page.

If it is a medieval/fantasy tavern setting do I need to dress up? Do I need to speak in an accent?

Our goal is to design a medieval setting so that we get the feel of the place. Our plates, mugs, utensils, food, music, and seating are all designed with this in mind. However, we definitely don't want to make people feel unconfortable. With that in mind, here are the answers to those questions:

Are you dressing up?

We, the tavern owners, will have simple garments on - something to the degree where you won't go, "Whoa! That's crazy!", but something enough where you will go, "Yup, that's not modern clothing." We are trying to walk a fine line.

Can I dress up?

Sure! Have at it! Just keep in mind that the event is outside and dress appropriately.

Will you be talking in a fake accent?

No. Accents are usually really bad and kind of rediculous.

Can I talk in a fake accent?

If we don't know you, how can we tell it's fake ;)

Is it really free?

Yup! You don't have to pay for anything! Though we wouldn't say no to some donations. Food does cost us money to provide, and donations do encourage us to keep doing the events. But, there is no obligation

How can I help?

You can help a lot! We are really looking for ideas about what YOU want, what YOU want to see and experience. Drop us a line and tell us what you like, tell us what you don't like. Apart from that, right now we are very small group doing very small events. However, if you're an artist (handrawn fashion), we would definitely like to talk with you. We have a couple of cool projects we are thinking about but lack the necessary skills.

Is smoking/vaping allowed? Are you 420 friendly?

Our taverns are in an intimate setting, seated around our two hand hewn tables. It is not possible to gauge the acceptability of smoking from all our potential guests; as a result, for the comfort everyone, we ask that everyone refrains from smoking.

How to I reach your location? What is the ease of access?

Our tavern is located on a residential property in a hilly neighborhood. As a result, here are some obstacles to consider:
🕈 Parking is likely to be difficult. Parking on a side street as well as a short walk is almost guarenteed. Consider taking an Uber if possible - especially if you're drinking.
🕈 There is a set of about 6 steps from the street down to the home, as the home is in a hilly area. After the steps to the property, everything is fairly flat.
🕈 The tavern is in the back of the property, about 130 feet or so from the street. A portion of that walk is over a flat grassy lawn.
🕈 The tavern seating is bench style seating.
🕈 To reach the restroom requires a step up to the deck, and another step up into the house.

How do I register for the event?

Go to any of the future events located on our TAVERNS page. When you're at a specific tavern, there will be a "Dispatch Courier" button that will direct you to a form to fill out. Fill out the form, and we will respond via email with a confirmation.

Can I bring people with me?

As long as you register for them on the registeration form. See above.

I have a food allergy. Can you make an accomodation?

At this time, we are unable to make food accommodations in regards to allergies or religious needs. This includes vegetarian or gluten-free options. We provide the list of all foods that will be available for each tavern, be sure to review the menu before registration to be sure you're comfortable with the food that will be provided.

Is there an age limit?

Since we will have alcohol present, we require all our guests to be 21 or older. Similarly, we ask that you keep the kids at home due to the alcohol liability issue. There is no maximum age though - congratulations if you've made it that far!
